My Opinions on Characters in the Book Named Matilda

There are two figures in the book that left me a very deep impression and made me into thinking. As is often the case, people are likely to learn from the plot and come up with many thoughts about the characters from what they read as well. So do I.

Matilda, of course, is the chief figure in the book. She is a little girl who likes to be buried in many books to gain knowledge as eagerly as a thirsty man in the desert happens to meet a watery lake. One good nature inside her that impresses me a lot is her modesty. She never shows off even if she is clever than any other children of her age and her talents are too extraordinary to be believed as a genius. As we all know, the number of talented people is actually not small. However, among those many talented people, there are really a few of them who are able to control the superiority feeling over normal people that naturally comes to them when they have been labeled on ‘genius’ by others. I dare to say they can hardly do what Matilda does. Besides, her independence is also what I appreciate very much. To be more exact, she has her own mind. When her parents tried hard to stop Matilda reading more, she just ignored their stupid suggestion and even argued with her parents about it. What’s more, she didn’t freak out like most children do no matter how many times her parents snapped loudly at her. Instead, she can calm herself down so her brain can think up many ideas to make her parents pay. In conclusion, those characteristics make her a very excellent child and also a very favorite figure to me,from the perspective of a reader.

As the old saying goes, where there is love, there is hate. The very person that I dislike most is her selfish, arrogant, greedy, irresponsible father. The whole stuff about making money can’t prove anything but his crafty. And how ridiculous he was to stop Matilda reading books and encourage her to watch television. That sounds like an irresponsible father tries to destroy the future of his daughter with his arrogance. You know, the funny thing is that I can’t really believe that a terrible man like him should have a wonderful daughter named Matilda.

No doubt, what I write above is the opinions about the main characters in the book. It is universally acknowledged that there are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people’s eyes. May you enjoy it!
