Impressions of The Treatment

The first time I saw the movie’s name The Treatment, it did not arouse my much enthusiasm for I took it for granted that it was just no more than something that described about Chinese traditional medical treatment which wasn’t worth seeing. However, when I had a chance to take a real hard look at the theme, I was completely absorbed in the film and furthermore the plot was totally different from what I had imagined originally.

The movie tries to tell us a story about how a Chinese family spent their days on America based on different cultures between east and west. On account of the tremendous cultural differences, the family especially the protagonist Da Tong’s father did not lead a happy life. What’s worse, due to the different opinions about The Treatment, Da Tong’s father even had a quarrel with the local government which resulted in his unemployment. I was touched touched by the scene where Da Tong’s father determined to leave for China alone for the sake of Da Tong’s success. Faced with his father’s choice, Da has no alternative but to accept even though the result did not work as he had expected.

I have never seen such a moving film.On the one hand, it gave me insight into the different cultures which may have a great effect on our daily life. In order to avoid such an awkward situation, the best strategy probably is to learn or to communicate with others as much as possible. On the other hand, from what Da’ father had done for his son, I have a deep thought on the kinship. We were born with our parents’ care and love, nevertheless, they never expect to be rewarded. They always put themselves out of the way to earn more money to provide us with the best material conditions, and they even work around the clock no matter what difficulties they have experienced. When we have already grown up, they still give us a feeling that they always stand behind us no matter what happened. How great and selfless the parents are! We, nonetheless, often forget to look back to see what an indispensable part they have rolled, and we just suck everything greedily from our parents but seldom care about what they really need.
