Is the Road to Hell Paved with Good Intentions?

In today' society, a great number of people are puzzled whether the road to hell is paved with good intentions. As we know, it is a Chinese traditional virtue to perform outstanding acts of bravery, kindness or courage when it is necessary. Nevertheless, the fact is that there are lots of cases where helpful people get into trouble due to their well-intended help, which has resulted in this puzzle. Now, let's talk about the reasons.

First of all, the social condition is to blame. It's widely known to us that our society is in a complicated and ever-changing time, and having been ignored for a long time, moral construction can't develop as fast as economy. Some people make wrong decisions for a monetary profit motive even when offered a kind help.

Secondly, the social system still needs improving. A brave and helpful man was trapped into economic troubles because he destroyed several cars by accident when he ran after a robber. Though he got some prize money due to his brave performance, yet he had to pay more to compensate for those car owners, along with which other similar events were spread widely by media. Consequently, more and more people may become unwilling to do strangers a favor to avoid unnecessary troubles. In my opinion, our social system should play a vital role in dealing with such problems and carry out policies to guarantee that people wouldn't get into trouble whenever they do merciful deeds. Therefore, we can draw a conclusion that our social system is in great need of being improved.

As a member of our society, we ought to take the responsibility to aid the society to become better even after we know its drawbacks. To avoid being trapped by some designing people, we should do more when we aid others out of kindness. Rather than do it yourself, you can find out a better way to cope with the problem, by which you can not only avoid risking your life but also help to cut down heavy losses. If you can't guarantee your safety, it's wiser of you to choose another way to help. If you are afraid of being blackmailed, videoing the evidence or ensuring your witnesses is a good choice when it's needed.

In a nutshell, the road to hell isn't paved with good intentions. As one saying goes, what goes around comes around. I'm sure we will no longer be afraid of aiding others only if we contribute to our society.
