Welcome to Summer

“Bees’ buzz, kids’ all blow dandelion fuzz. And I’ll be doing whatever snow does in summer... ”, this is a part of the episode In Summer in the Disney movie Frozen, which reminds many people of the lovely snowman Olaf. Despite the fact that he is a snowman, he enjoys warm hugs as well as embracing the breeze and sunlight in summertime. “Winter’s a good time to stay in and cuddle, but put me summer I will be a happy snow man!” Incredible as it sounds, summer does have the magic power to attract people.

“To me, the pageant of seasons is a thrilling unending drama, the action of which streams through my ffingertips,” as Helen Keller once remarked in Three Days to See. Of all the seasons, I deeply think that summer is symbolic of the beauty of nature. As the British poetess Alice Meynell once put it, “ The daylight trees of July are songs of common beauty, common freshness, and a mystery familiar and abiding as night and day.” Summer is not only a season but also the peaceful state of our life.

A recent survey “What makes you Happy?” collects people’s “little things” that will make them happy. It turns out that a lovely weather does make us happier. In Athens, Illinois, Erica Hostetler loves “a warm sunny day with no clouds in the sky and a slight breeze.” Is it not in summer? Besides, if we’re feeling down and unmotivated, a simple 10-minute walk outside in summer may be just what we need to elevate our mood and catch a second wind for the work we have remaining in the day.

In summertime, we can place our hand gently on a small tree to enjoy the fresh air and listen to the happy songs singing by birds. As a song Summer Girl singing by Leighton Me ester, “Everybody needs a little bit of sunshine, everybody needs time to unwind, everybody gotta have a good time. I’m just a summer girl...” Summer is sure a good time to relax our body, physically and mentally.

The magic summer is coming, together with the gentle breeze and the bright sunshine. Now, who wouldn’t want to be in summer?
