Gray Steel, Soft Love: Comment on Film Big Hero 6

Throughout the world, there is only one issue that is more beautiful than giving a life that is filling your life with love.

This carton has witnessed a multitude of laughing and tears which are truly worth appreciating. However, it is an insignificant detail that prompts me to write down this commentary. There is a shot that Baymax with heavy armors is taking his stance according to Hero’s request, in the meantime a pretty butterfly peacefully falls on the fingertip of the iron giant, Baymax’s expression suddenly turns absolutely soft. I am so melted that bravery and gentleness are so harmoniously coalesced in an instant. Perhaps that spot has confirmed a sentence: In me the tiger sniffs rose.

Baymax’s love towards Hero is exclusive. When I first noticed him crossing the flowing street, ignoring the harsh whistle and ubiquitous danger, to seek for the tiny robots, I have changed my mind on this heavy robot. Baymax spares no effort to find the robots just because Hero mentions that he might feel better as long as he knew where the tiny robot wanted to go. Even Baymax is required to do something that is beyond his comprehension or indeed opposite to his gentle nature, he will strive to accomplish it as he considers it beneficial to Hero. He may never understands whether it is necessary for a healthcare robot to master kung fu like boxing, kicking and karate, however, he is always understanding that what he has done will cheer Hero up.

Baymax’s love towards the world is also equal. He still remembers to comfort the kitten in spite of low battery, and he exerts all his energies to protect his friends in battle. He even desperately carries Hero rushing into the spatio-temporal tunnel, which looks like a blooded mouth swallowing everything when Hero is determined to save Abigail. Baymax is a robot, but he is more like a sentient character. He also feels puzzled and agonized when confrontation generates between the choice of killing Doctor Callaghan to relieve Hero’s suffering and his nature of protecting humans. I am brokenhearted when Baymax asks Hero if he would be cured of pain with Callaghan’ s death over and over again. At that moment I have seen Teddy’s soul inside the delicate chip.

Perhaps from beginning to the end, it is Baymax that accompanies Hero to grow up. The robot created by Teddy takes Teddy’s role of looking after Hero. Under the steel appearance, there is a warm heart filled with soft love.
