On the Youth Day, May 14, 2015, a very cool orienteering race was hold in South-Central University for Nationalities by the school’s Students Union and School of Art and Communication, School of Economics, School of Management etc. The orienteering competition was one of a series of activities in South-Central University for Nationalities to commemorate the 95th anniversary of the May Fourth Movement. It was designed to implement the central group "off the network, out of the bedroom, to the playground" and the purpose was “Green- Health-Sports”. The activity was mainly through the youthful, vibrant and healthy jogging, which could strengthen both body and mind.

The orienteering race this year contained 10 different routes and 20 checkpoints. The map was designed by the professionals to ensure that the length of each route is the same and make the race go on more smoothly, and the set-ups including 15 school buildings, such as South Lake Park, the South Lake Stadium, Student Activity Center, the Gymnasium, the Academic Hall and other landmarks in school.

“For color, for young” Colorful Orienteering Race officially started at 9 o’clock in the morning in the base camp, Double Tower Building. There were 100 teams and more than 50 students participating in the race. Before they started, every team got an envelope with the map and the task card. At the beginning, all the teams were eager to go and the atmosphere of the event was quite fiery. “Five, four, three, two, one!” after the staff member’s counting down, each team began to run in the school. Each checkpoint was set up with interesting games.

Here are some of the interesting games: At the school gate, one member of the team would be asked to pull out more than three papers written lyrics from the box, and could pass it only if they guess the name of three songs rightly. At the 16th teaching building, the teams were asked to erect 5 coins up. At the South Playground, the team members should stand back to the goal and kick the football to the goal with the heel twice. At the south basketball court, after the team arrived, they had to squat 150 times for all. Between the 15th teaching building and the gallery, one of the members had to take off the shoes the do the rope-jumping on the pressure plate. In the South Lake Park, the team should blow up three balloons to pass it. The names of the checkpoints based on Romance of the Three Kingdoms added more joy and interest in the race. After completed the task at the 20 checkpoints, every team would get a word, and collecting 20 words can constitute a poem, after the poem was composed correctly, the whole race was finished.

After the team surrounded the school and back to the base camp finishing the race, the students can printed their handprint with watercolors on the curtain. Watercolors were the new element of “color run” in this year's South-Central University for Nationalities orienteering colorful race. The watercolors added the beautiful landscape to the active site.

The orienteering race ended in group photos. Let’s take a back view of the entire activity. Though it rained in the morning, it didn’t affect anyone's enthusiasm. A great many students joined this race for making friends and enjoying youth. “Future is in hands and youth on the way.” This event will be our beautiful memories. The colorful orienteering race was over, but our youth is still on the road. Our youth will have been cool forever.
